4 Reasons to Visit Cornwall in Spring

We love Cornwall in Spring, the suns out and flowers are starting to pop up all over the place. Some of the headlands along the coast are blanketed in them, making cliff top walks a real treat. To celebrate the arrival of spring here in the Westcountry we’ve put together a short guide about things to do in spring in Cornwall. Enjoy!

1- Go SURFING!

Spring time in Cornwall is renowned for being one of the best times of the year to ride waves. With the water starting to warm up and plenty of clean off shore swells rolling into the bays and beaches, Cornwall truly is a magical place to hit the waves or even learn for the first time.

2 - Go HIKE!

With miles and miles of untouched and protected beautiful coastline paths to choose from, why not whittle away an afternoon walking the cliff tops and smelling that fresh sea air. One of our favourite hikes is along the coastal path from the surf town of Newquay, out along the tall cliffs of Watergate bay, down into the quaint seaside town of Mawgan Porth and then to finish off, taking in the awesome views across Bedruthan Steps with it's dramatic rock stacks and golden stretching sands. Further afield The National Trust offers some excellent guides to short walks around the whole of Cornwall with breath taking views and longer routes for the die hard walkers out there.

3 - INDULGE A Little!

Cornwall boasts an amazing selection of great places to wine and dine including Jamie Oliver's esteemed Fifteen at Watergate Bay. And of course you must try the fish and chips or a Cornish pasty, but watch out for those seagulls they know a trick or two to deprive you of your lunch. The Porthleven Food & Music Festival 20th 22nd April over on the south coast is definitely a must with culinary delights and sounds from all over the county.

4 - Go On RETREAT Yourself!

We love that we get to share Spring in Cornwall with all of you lucky lot on our Wild & Free Adventures Yurt, Surf & Yoga retreat. We get to stay in the luxury yurts at The Park, Cornwall, sleeping under the stars with log fires and food cooked by our personal chef. We wake up every morning, to meditation in our communal yurt and an energising yoga flow by yoga teacher Amanda Bunton. We spend the day at the beach just a short walk away, surfing the waves with our amazing surf instructors at King Surf. We finish with Yin Yoga on the decking surrounded by lush trees, looking out to the rolling hills. It is pure heaven! For more info on our Surf and Yoga retreats - Women and Water (female only) and Cornwall Surf & Yoga (mixed), head to our UK Retreats page here, or if an abroad retreat would be more of interest to you, check out all our abroad retreats, we only do 1 to 2 retreats abroad per year (but kept all the destinations on there for you to browse... as we always return to these amazing spots!), so head to the home page to check out the whole list of places we visit and create amazing adventures in...
