A day in the life of a Moroccan Surf & Yoga Adventure.
This winter, one of our many adventures took us to the dreamy waves of the 'Magic Bay' in Imsouane, Morocco... and if you read our recent reviews from our guests that joined us in March 2025, they would agree - it was an adventure and wave to remember!
"Where the moon meets the waves of a bay..."

Morocco is one of those places that feels like you're in another world far away, no matter where you are in the world... the waves, culture, light, food and people inspire your senses!
A place and experience that has stayed with us since our first trip here 7 years ago and always invites us back, time and time again... and the latest trip was March 2025 with a lovely group of adventurers who joined us on a Wild & free Adventure to Imsouane for some waves, yoga and Moroccan culture to escape for some winter sun.

Travelling to Morocco
It is a very short trip from the UK, only a 3-4hrs flight (dependant on where you fly from in the uk) ...to a destination that feels Like another world! Some of our guests on this latest trip travelled from Italy and Germany, so it is accessible from many places around the world with 27 arilines that fly from the uk to Morocco.
We love this destination for some winter sun and being based in the UK it offers some great winter waves!

Once you land, whether you fly into Agadir or Essaouira - we recommend Agadir, it's a 2hr trasnfer to Imsouane along a beautiful coastal drive and via mountains, local towns and various well know spots.
You arrive in the coastal village of Imsouane, located 100 kilometres north of Agadir in Morocco. known as a paradise for surfers and digital nomads.
Upon arriving in this small village you arrive at th gates of The O Experince and as the gates open, whether day or night, it's got the "wow" factor. If arriving during the night you get to wake up to the view...
Which is what hits you first with this amazing spot, and also whats leaves an inprint in your heart, when you leave.

We spend many hours over breakfast, lunch, dinner and yoga taking in... and it never gets boring.
So once you've settled in and dependant on 'when' you arrive, you can dive straight into the ocean for a surf, as we are literally 3mins walk to the 'Magic Bay' a long boarders dream.

Typical Day/Schedule
7.30am - Yoga on rooftop of courtyard overlooking this view watching the sun rise to the sound of the ocean
9am - A quick coffee and banana before the first Surf... we either go out in two groups or one. if 2 some will have breakfast first then surf around 11am (and have breakfast before you go!)
12-2pm - Lunchtime with a view!
2-4pm - Free Time, have another surf, some days surf analysis, yoga workshop, explore the area... or chill
6pm - Yin Yoga (some evenings)
8pm - Dinner
Thats it in it's simpliest form...
Our day started a little earlier (for us, while out guests slept) with the 5.30am 'call to prayer' (something to get used to if you travel to the country), which signified our 'surf check', a different ritual to praying but to be taken just as religiously.
Day Off / Free Time
Throughout the week, you can spend your free time, how you want, more surfing, rest, explore with a few hours in the afternoon and a day off in the middle of the trip.
You can do a trip to Essaouira for the day to visit local markets and do some shopping, exploring the walled medinas, or the bustling port and delve into the citys rich histroy and tradtions.
On this retreat, our guests chose to stay local and make the most of the waves (they are pretty additictive!), and on thier days off, got more surfing in, chilled, went for a massage or local hamman. Some went to a local Cooperative to experience the local culture, how argan oil and products were made and got involed themselves (see below)

Or head to the dunes and go sand baording... there is something for everyone.

Menu / Food
As food is, as important to us, as the surfing destinations and locations to enjoy our yoga practice, we choose wisely and at this spot, the chefs and menu is as much of the experience on this adventure.
The team at our venue are passionate and want your expeirence to be a trip to remember as much as we do... and every meal was a delight and pleasure to serve as much as it was to gratefully recieve.

You get to choose from a healthy selection for Breakfast and Lunch offering a nice daily variety to suit all dietary requirements. For Dinner we all enjoyed a traditional Morocco dish together, from Tagines, delicious Cous Cous (prepared and cooked over many hours). As well as and or a variety of dishes from local grilled fish, delicious vegan and vegeterian dishes and meat options, with salads and sides to tantalise the taste buds!
Yoga Practice
Our monring practice was based on warming the body up for our surfs, from breath-work, gentle stretches, connecting to our bodies, finding our flow to take into the ocean...
On this retreat we had comeplte beginners to yoga (always a pleasure to introduce people to yoga!) and a variety of levels with experience in different styles of yoga.
Our evenings were Yin, Restorative and Yoga Nidra practices to nourish the whole body and clear the mind.
As always Amanda left the group with a love for "yin" her speciality! Which even our local residents liked - spot the kitten joining in seated meditation.
The Waves
Why we love this spot, is, it really is for everyone and every ability! From complete beginners to Intermeidates and those that love long barding to a waves for every style of board.
The Magic Bay is long dreamy waves and 5 point sof access dependant on the tide and your ability, then the other side of the point you have Cathedrals, a more punch wave, bigger and more suited to faster rides and shorter boards.

So you can pick what you feel like each day and often both can be working but worse case, you'll always have a wave to surf no matter what the conditions are.
The walk to Cathedrals takes you through through the local fishing market, even when it is not on is a must do, with all the fishing boats and buildings - a real local Moroccan treasure.
The Rooms / Venue
This place is where you wanna be, 3mins walk to the beach, overlooking to the Magic Bay, so you won't miss a wave. It offers the right level of luxury while being simple and stylish and offering all the creature comforts you need.
Overlooking the mountains the view here, not just of the waves, but the surrounding area is breath taking, morning, day and night. The light is something else, the waves are a beautiful turquoise and the mountains give off this stunning peach, dusky light that means no filters or phoroshop needed for your picture ;0)
The sun rises right over the mountains in front of us. Then the moon lights the bay at night and you have the perfect views from the roof top (or a short walk to Cathedrals) to watch the sun set.

The best thing about Imsouane, is it still holds it's Moroccan charm. Fancy joining us on a Morocco Adventure, read more HERE! The best thing about Morocco is the African sun setting over the ocean, painting the sky with colours and the mountains behind.

If you like the sound of a surf and yoga retreat, join us on one of our adventures and be wild and free!
